Research Interests

I am currently interested in understanding local adaptations within a species, be it through genotypic variation or phenotypic plasticity. I am particularly curious about how local behavioural adaptations can occur, though I am interested in other types of adaptation (such as physiology differences) as well. I am specifically interested in these sorts of adaptations in lions, both because lions are so widely spread across Africa and because my personal experiences in the Kenyan areas of Maasai Mara National Reserve and Tsavo West National Park led me to wonder why there were differences between the lions at these two locations.

Finally, working in Joel Brown's lab, I am beginning to learn about vigilance behaviours and giving up densities (GUDs), and how these behaviours can inform us on a variety of species. I still don't know much about this field, but I find what I'm learning very intriguing.
